The Anthony J. Nickols, Jr. Walk for Life
(the Walk) is the Foundation’s major fundraising event. The starting
line for the 5k (three mile) Walk and 10k race is Eisenhower High School,
where Anthony was a student. Eisenhower students and faculty members join
Inland Empire and Los Angeles basin residents to enthusiastically support
theWalk.
The 2005 Anthony J. Nickols, Jr. Walk for Life was a great success with
the participation of more than 700 walkers from throughout the Inland
Empire and Los Angeles area. Generous support from corporate partners
combined to raise awareness in support of efforts to eliminate childhood
cancer and make life better for children living with the disease and their
families. Proceeds from the
Walk also helped to provide scholarships to deserving graduating seniors
from Eisenhower High, where Anthony was a student.
The Foundation has been devoting considerable time since the 2005 Walk for
Life to outreach efforts within the surrounding communities and local
businesses to gain more support for the Walk. The focus and goal within
the coming months and through 2007 is to increase awareness of the
Foundations events, identify individuals and organizations that can help
engage more participants and increase sponsorship for the next Anthony
J. Nickols Jr. fundraiser.
Please note that the 2007 Annual Inland Empire Walk for Life
originally scheduled for Saturday, April 28th has been postponed.
Please visit this site in the coming months for
additional details. Learn how you can be a part of the Foundation’s
continuing efforts to help children and their families who are battling
the disease of cancer and young people from the Inland Empire who are
trying to continue their education.
