About the Foundation
The Anthony J. Nickols, Jr. Foundation
was established to honor the memory of a young man who loved to
laugh and make others laugh with him. Anthony Nickols, Jr. grew up
in Rialto, California. He enjoyed drawing cartoon characters and he
was an avid football fan. Anthony was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s
Lymphoma in November of 1997, while he was a senior at Eisenhower
High School; he died two years later in 1999. Throughout his battle
with cancer, Anthony demonstrated remarkable strength and character
for a young man his age.
Moved by Anthony’s courage and
example, his family decided to establish a foundation to honor his
short, but meaningful life. The Anthony J. Nickols, Jr. Foundation
supports the battle against cancer by helping children with cancer
and their families cope with this terrible disease. The
Foundation is proud to be a member of the philanthropic community of
California’s Inland Empire community.
The Anthony J. Nickols, Jr. Foundation is fortunate to
have the support of residents and business leaders from throughout
the Inland Empire and Los Angeles area.
Funds raised by the Foundation are used to assist children
with cancer and their families and provide support to deserving
students. The Foundation has donated $8,000 to The CandleLighters
Foundation which is committed to providing support, education, and
advocacy for children and adolescents with cancer and their families
and the Foundation has contributed to the American Cancer Society
Relay for Life. In
addition, funds raised by the Foundation are used to provide
scholarships to deserving students from the Inland Empire who are
working to further their education.
Our Mission
The Anthony J. Nickols, Jr. Foundation works to improve the care and
quality of life for children with cancer and increase the survival
